With the World band receiver PL-880, TECSUN did a masterpiece. The PL-880 is one of the best World-band-receivers we have ever received from TECSUN. The Tecsun PL-880 offers loads of features that make it superior to previous models including Digital Signal Processing on the HF-bands which is a big leap forward for the reception of weak signals. Further, the PL-880 offers selectable IF-bandwidth and a new longlife lithium ion battery.

The Tecsun PL880 World band receiver is the culmination of years of research and technology development. All the desirable features of shortwave listening have been combined in a single package. The receiver covers the entire shortwave range (100-29999KHz), Longwave, FM and AM broadcast bands. The receivers sensitivity on HF in the SSB mode is typically less than 1uV. Upper Side Band and Lower Side Band are individually selectable, and there are multiple user-selectable bandwidth settings available for each band.*

Particular attention has been paid to the audio output of this receiver to enhance the listening experience. Beside from bass and treble control, the speaker is driven by a Class AB power amplifier capable of 450mW output. There are also many user adjustable “easter eggs” parameters, to allow users to customize the receiver preferences.

If you want to use an external antenna with BNC connection, you need an adapter. Since the standard adapter jack on PL, then further from PL to BNC, are much too large and bulky for the radios, the jack socket on the receiver quickly turns off and contact difficulties occur after a short time. In the worst case, the jack must be replaced. With this adapter cable the jack socket of the World Band Receiver is relieved and in most cases you can connect the external antenna / the bias tee directly.
